In order to assist you with your evidence-based teaching, collaboration, research, leadership, and advocacy, and, in some cases, to comply with professional guidelines, we retain records relating to the professional services we provide to you. We have rigorous physical, electronic and procedural safeguards in place to protect these records and they are accessed internally only on an “as-needed” basis. We periodically dispose of records through a certified destruction process or through shredding based upon our record retention polices. The non-public personal information we collect includes but is not limited to information about personal data such as names, addresss, e-mails, and phones. We also obtain personal data through interviews and telephone calls with you or letters and emails from you.
Council for Learning Disabilities may use Personal Information and aggregated and/or anonymous user information in the following ways:
- for the purposes for which you specifically provided the Personal Information, i.e., to send you information about our Company or Organization and/or provide requested services
- to communicate with you throughout the year
In addition, Council for Learning Disabilities may share your Personal Information and aggregated and/or anonymous user information as follows:
- as required by law, in conjunction with a government inquiry or in litigation or dispute resolution.
Furthermore, in the case of any significant transaction or event involving Council for Learning Disabilities or any of its related entities or divisions such as, by way of example only, a sale, merger, amalgamation, financing, re-organization, liquidation, or insolvency, other parties to the transaction and their professional advisors may need to have access to client lists and various databases which include Personal Information as part of the due diligence process. In this event, Council for Learning Disabilities will only provide such access under terms of a strict Confidentiality Agreement. Upon completion of the transaction or event, your Personal Information may be transferred to Council for Learning Disabilities’s successor-in-interest to be used solely for the purposes for which it was collected.
To prevent unauthorized access and to maintain data accuracy, Council for Learning Disabilities uses reasonable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information it collects. Council for Learning Disabilities recognizes the importance of safeguarding Personal Information in Council for Learning Disabilities’s possession from theft, inappropriate use or improper distribution. It should, however, be recognized that no company or organization can perfectly protect Personal Information.
